Placement: Kelvale Medical Group/Armadale Health Campus
My particular placement spanned six months and involved part time General Practice work at Kelvale Medical Group and the remaining time as an Obstetric & Gynaecology RMO at Armadale Health Campus. The program gave me the chance to experience the specialty of O&G and extend those skills and knowledge I acquired to the community medicine setting. In my role as an O&G RMO I was involved in theatre assistance, antenatal clinic assessments, vaginal deliveries and postpartum management of patients on the ward.
The Community Residency Program has allowed me to experience the speciality of O&G and extend those skills and knowledge I acquire to the community medicine setting. This has allowed me to test the waters, over a longer period compared to the usual residency terms, of two specialty areas before I make a commitment for my future career path.
