2009 Placement Information for GP Registrars

Each year WAGPET undertakes a placement process for GP Registrars to select training terms in the coming training year. To confirm their re-enrolment and ensure placements are arranged for the coming training year, GP Registrars must complete the following:

On-line re-enrolment in the GP Training Program

All WAGPET GP Registrars must re-enrol in the GP Training Program each year by submitting an online Placement Preference Form by 30 June of each year.

GP Registrars applying for Advanced Rural Skills Posts must submit their application by June each year.

Forms are submitted on-line via WAGPET elearning www.wagpet.com.au/elearning.

Failure to submit your Placement Preference Form may result in you being considered as withdrawn from the GP Training Program and you may need to re-apply via the GPET application and selection process.

GP Registrars must meet specific training requirements. Read more

Placement procedure

The placement process starts in May each year and GP Registrars must submit their training preference forms to WAGPET by 30 June. The application should include three preferences for each semester. Read more

Choosing a placement

Term dates for 2009

  • Semester 1: 12 January 2009 to 12 July 2009
  • Semester 2: 13 July 2009 to 10 January 2010

Training part-time

GP Registrars have the option to undertake training on a part time basis. An Application for Part-time training is submitted to the Program Training Advisor prospectively providing information to support this request. Read more

Taking leave

GP Registrars can take standard and/or parental leave during GP training. Registrars planning to take extended leave from the program in 2009 will need to indicate this on the Placement Preference form and must also complete an Application for Leave form.  Read more

Hospital terms

GP Registrars completing a hospital term in 2009 should complete the details of their hospital placements on the Placement Preference form. Read more
