Part-Time Training

The option for Part-Time training is available for those unable to undertake training full-time and must include a minimum of three, three-hour, sessions per week. This option needs to be pre-approved by your program Training Advisor. All other program requirements, especially educational, need to be filled.

If you work from three to six sessions a week then you must attend at least half the educations requirements, if you work more than this, then all education components require attendance.

If you work less than five sessions a week, this may be able to be counted as five sessions, the reason being even when you are not seeing patients, your learning and reflective process is still occurring. Again your Program Training Advisor will be able to determine with you whether this is viable and if so, an Accelerated Part Time Training application can be made.

My other colleagues who were involved in a WAGPET term were about to start the Community Residency Program which includes some hospital contact as well. I, on the other hand, was about to start a solely GP-based program.
