Education During Training
The education program is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to practice unsupervised in general practice in Western Australia, and to help you prepare for the for the Royal Australian College of General Practioners (RACGP) and/or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) exams.
- The program will be closely aligned with the RACGP and ACRRM curricula.
- The program will encourage active experiential learning using case discussion, role play, simulated patients, practice skills, online education for example.
- The program shall be delivered in your training region wherever practicable to do so.
- There will be a strong emphasis on learning through reflection.
- The program will recognise different learning styles.

| An experienced GP from your training region will sit in with you for approx. 3 hours to give feedback to you after your consultations. We will organise for this visitor to see you. You must make sure that only 2 - 3pts per hour have been booked to allow time to speak with the ECT visitor in between patients. | |||||

| You will be emailed the semester program by your regional administration officer. Workshops are held at the GP Network in your training region. You must RSVP to sessions if your attendance is optional. You can contribute to the program of topics by contacting your RLO. | |||||

| We will enrol you in all central workshops to be held at WAGPET offices. Some workshops require pre-work. It is important to log into e-learning to double check your requirements before attending. If you need travel and accommodation arranged, contact the Education Team. Note: if you are enrolled in a workshop and fail to inform WAGPET, you may be required to reimburse WAGPET for the expenses incurred and/or arrange to make up the curriculum content in your own time.
