Pemberton Medical Centre has a rural setting but with modern facilities. It offers a broad spectrum of learning opportunities that comes with having a rural location. Pemberton Medical Centre was taken over by Dr Vesely in 2008 and he has spent the [last three years upgrading the services and facilities available at the practice. he has reinstated ED cover and inpatient services to Pemberton Hospital and has increased our patient access to visiting allied health professionals (diabetes educator, asthma educator, physiotherapist, psychologist & dietitian). Practice policies and procedures have also been upgraded. AGPAL acknowledged our efforts by awarding Pemberton Medical Centre with an AGPAL Practice Excellence Award in 2009 in recognition of our commitment to quality & safety.
Now that the Practice is operational at the standards that Dr Vesely was aiming to achieve, he is now wanting to focus on passing on some of his learning experionces to doctors in training and improving the medical services available to our patients via increased number of appointments and reducing waiting times, offering a choice of meidcal pactitioners for our patients and assisting in ensuring continues medical services for Pemberton in the future. It is hoed that opening the Practice to registrars will enable these further GPs to experience the diversity of rural medicine both in the practice & at the hospital, and learn from the broad spectrum of patients that our Practice is able to offer. It is also hoped that the registrars will experience country living and takeaway a true understanding of the term 'community spirit'. These experiences will hopefully encourage these registrars to return one day and takeover the medical services of Permberton when Dr Vesely is ready to retire.
