At Huntingdale Thornlie Medical Centre (HTMC), we aim to provide quality, evidence based primary care to the community of Huntingdale/Thornlie and the surrounding areas. At present, of the seven GP's at HTMC, each has a different interest and expertise. Nutritional & Occupational Medicine, Mental Health, Men's Health, Refugee Health, Prison Medicine, Palliative Care, Internal Medicine (Diabetes management) and Paediatric Medicine.
We use the above expertise to enhance our own skills by regularly reviewing our common patients together and by referring them to our colleagues for their opinnions. This way we are able to work collaboratively at the practice.
Currently we supervise medical students from the University of Western Australia and the University of Notre Dame. We also have the experience of training and mentoring overseas trained doctors at our practice. Our aim is to vertically integrate this education at our practice by also teaching registrars at our practice.
A registrar will have ample support from all our experienced doctors and have access to a varied demographic of our patient population to gain experience. The broad experience of the doctors at the practice can be shared with registrars and benefit their learning experience.
We feel that providing a training ground for GP registrar will be a very rewarding and fulfillinf experience. We anticipate that an enthusiastic GP registrar will bring in fresh ideas and new concepts and will enhance our practice as well. Through this exchange, we aim to create a dynamic atmosphere of education at our practice.
