Mission Statement
Mawarnkarra Health Service (MHS) takes a holistic approach to health care delivery and our programs are designed not just to address the curative needs of the individual, but also to improve the physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, emotional and cultural wellbeing of the Aboriginal communities in our region. Health care programs are designed to integrate the holistic approach with western technologies and Aboriginal community models to produce the best health outcomes.
About Us
Mawarnkarra Health Services provides primary care to a mostly Aboriginal population. Although remote, we have an exemplary clinic which would provide Registrars with an excellent opportunity to further their training in the area of Aboriginal health. We provide a range of programs, such as Maternal and Child Health, Chronic Disease and PHCAP, which serves as an outreach program to individuals who may not otherwise have access to health care.
Registrars are able to work with the Registered Nurses coordinating these programs to gain the added skills and knowledge that come with servicing a remote and largely underprivileged population. In addition, our two full-time General Practitioners are eager to share their experience and knowledge with Registrars through debriefing and regular training sessions.
We have had very positive outcomes with past Registrars, highlighted with the return of an ex-registrar in the supervisory role. We believe a placement at Mawarnkarra benefits both the patient population and the Registrars.
