About Prison Health
Prison Health Services is interesting and challenging. It provides a great opportunity to practice a wide scope of medicine while assisting the most vulnerable in our society. You will see a large burden of illness ranging from chronic disease, diabetes, COPD, asthma, IHD, aboriginal health, drug and alcohol, men's health, potential women's and adolescent health, mental health and substance abuse issues. There are great learning opportunities available for GP Trainees as you contribute to a safe, vibrant and dynamic practice. We offer contrasting environments and experiences which will enhance both professional and personal growth.
Practice Philosophy
To reduce re-offending, to protect the community and to direct offenders towards the adoption of law-abiding lifestyles through custody and containment, care and well being, reparation, rehabilitation and reintegration. Prison Health Services provide healthcare to a patients in custody in accordance with best practice health care principles and practices.
