About Us

Mead Medical is the 2013/14 RACGP Australian General Practice of the Year, an award that recognises outstanding medical services and facilities.

We have a purpose built medical centre that was completed in 2013, located adjacent to Kalamunda Hospital. The medical centre provides state of the art facilities for our doctors and patients. As well as the traditional consulting rooms, we have incorporated a large nursing bay and three new procedure rooms. All rooms are fully computerised and have high speed internet access.

We also have our Forrestfield surgery that was refurbished in 2014 and services our patients who live in the foothills. This also includes state of the art facilities including a large treatment room and a procedure room.

We also offer additional services beyond the standard general practice that are optional extra teaching opportunities if registrars wish to take them up including:
      •   Anaesthetics
      •   Obstetric Services
      •   Minor Surgery
      •   Skin Check and Skin Cancer Surgery
      •   Occupational Health Services
      •   Care of Residents in Local Aged Care Facilities
      •   Inpatient care in Kalamunda Hospital

These opportunities are not compulsory for a term and registrars are free to take as many or as few of these opportunities as they wish.

In addition to the Australian General Practice of the Year award, Mead has also won the WAGPET teaching practice of the year award.

Staff at Mead have also won a number of individual awards:
•    The head supervisor at Mead, Dr Sean Stevens, has won the GPET Australian supervisor of the year
•    Our practice manager Dot Melkus has won Australian General Practice manager of the year
•    Supervisor Dr Warren Thyer has won the RACGP GP of the year.

Staff at Mead are more than happy to provide details of recent registrars to give confidential background on Mead.
