Peel

Peel RegionThe Peel region covers an area of 5,500 square kilometres, extending from 35 to 145 kilometres to the south of Perth, with a population of almost 88,000. The majority of the region’s economy is driven by mining, manufacturing, construction, retail and tourism.

Peel’s natural beauty is a combination of rugged coasts and majestic forests, making the natural environment diverse, unique and a beautiful place to live and visit. Peel’s renowned waterside lifestyle plays host to inland waterways and progressive canal developments with visitors enjoying fishing, swimming, waterskiing and recreational cruising.

The newly developed infrastructure allows visitors to easily commute to Peel via the Kwinana Freeway or Tonkin Highway extensions, alternatively a relaxing 48 minute train ride to Mandurah from the centre of Perth using the Southern Suburbs Railway is also available.

I chose this term as I was particularly interested in General Practice (I am now a GP Registrar in the Northern Territory) but also wanted to keep my skills in hospital based medicine, in case I found GP was not to my liking.
