Community Residency Allowances and Subsidies
Whilst undertaking a rural placement as part of the Community Residency Program CRP (formally PGPPP), WAGPET will provide:
Rural Placements Travel / Relocation Doctors in Training relocating to rural posts will be flown to their destination, unless otherwise agreed, to undertake their placement. Should the DiT prefer to drive, they are required to submit a request in writing and permission must be gained from the Program Manager - Training, otherwise all travel will occur via air. Please refer to the Travel and Relocation Policy for Prevocational Doctors in Training for additional detail.
If a DiT is metropolitan based, travel arrangements to relocate will be made for no later than the morning of the first day of term. If the DiT is already residing in the town in which they will be undertaking their placement, they are not required to relocate and will not require flights for travel
WAGPET will arrange flights both to and from the placement only. Air travel will be economy class only. Once booked and confirmed, any changes to travel arrangements will be at the direct expense of the DiT in accordance with the WAGPET Travel and Relocation Policy for Prevocational Doctors in Training.
A DiT is required to complete a Travel Request Form and return to WAGPET as soon as possible.
Should a DiT prefer to use their own vehicle instead of using air travel, permission must be gained from the Program Manager -Training and WAGPET will only reimburse kilometres at the current Australian Taxation Office mileage rates up to the value of the economy class air fare in accordance with the WAGPET Travel and Relocation Policy for Prevocational Doctors in Training. Accommodation and meal expenses will not be covered. Road travel must occur before or on the morning of the first day of term. WAGPET does not cover the cost of the relocation of the DiT’s family.
Accommodation is provided for DiT undertaking a rural placement who are required to relocate to undertake their placement. No accommodation subsidy is available for metropolitan based placements, or for DiT who already reside in the town of their rural placement.
Accommodation for those employed with WACHS as part of the RPP, a small weekly fee may apply. Please discuss this with your employer.
