Practice Payments: Invoicing and Reporting
WAGPET supports the placement of GP Registrars at Training Practices through a Training Practice subsidy and In-Practice teaching payments.
Training Practice Subsidy
Once WAGPET has received the signed Training Practice Agreement, the supporting documentation and invoice, the Training Practice will receive the Training Practice subsidy payment for the full training semester. If the placement terminates earlier than expected, WAGPET reserves the right to recoup outstanding funds pre-paid to the practice. The practice subsidy for Basic GP terms is $450/week and for Advanced GP terms $225/week.
In-Practice Teaching Payments
WAGPET pays $100/hour for in-practice teaching provided to GP Registrars during their GP terms. GP Registrars in a Basic GP term receive 3 hours/week while Registrars in an Advanced GP Term receive 1.5 hours/week.
To claim the monthly in-Practice teaching payments, Training Practices must submit monthly invoices to WAGPET on which the following information is provided:
- Training Practice information and contact person
- GP Registrar consulting hours (not total hours worked)
- GP Registrar patient numbers identifying MBS and non-MBS patients
- hours of in-Practice teaching provided by the GP Supervisor and other Practice staff
- other education release time taken by the GP Registrar
- any leave taken by the GP Registrar or GP Supervisor
The invoiced claim for In-Practice teaching must be supported by information provided on the in-practice teaching log, which from 2008 is completed on-line through WAGPET elearning.
Training Practices with GP Registrars in Subsequent term placements must submit monthly Activity Reports providing information on GP Registrar patient numbers, types of patients, education sessions attended outside the Practice and any leave taken.
Information provided to WAGPET is recorded in the GP Registrar’s training record and assists WAGPET in assessing the Registrar’s progress through the training program. WAGPET is contractually required to report this information to GPET on the national GP Registrar database which also supports the ongoing funding of the GP training program.
Training Practices must submit their invoices and the In-Practice Teaching log within 10 days of the end of the month so that WAGPET can monitor in-Practice teaching hours and GP Registrar patient numbers. Failure to submit invoices on time makes it difficult for WAGPET to assess the quality of supervision and teaching provided at the Training Practice. This may impact on the future placement of GP Registrars at the Practice and ongoing accreditation as a Training Practice.
WAGPET cannot guarantee payment of invoices submitted more than two months after the end of the semester.
