PGPPP Changes for 2013

In January this year, GPET announced that as from 2013, WAGPET will be the sole provider of the Prevocational General Practice Placement Program (PGPPP) in Western Australia. Currently hospital residents can choose to undertake PGPPP placements with either or both the School of Primary, Aboriginal and Rural Health Care (SPARHC) and WAGPET in the rural and outer metropolitan areas of the state. For 2012 it remains business as usual for all PGPPP participants and practices. WAGPET is planning to continue all of the currently accredited SPARHC PGPPP placements in 2013 and we thank SPARHC for the wonderful work that they have done in developing and managing these posts over the last 7 years.

Over 2012 WAGPET and SPARHC will be working together to ensure the smooth transition of the SPARHC PGPPP posts. Marketing, recruitment and selection for the 2013 intake will begin again soon, so  please be on the lookout for the information sessions being held in the metropolitan and rural hospitals throughout the state. Where possible, staff from both companies will be present so that any inquiry re a specific post can be thoroughly answered.
